A higher “D” number would be thicker, stronger, and more durable. The “D” denotes “denier”, which is the unit of measurement for the thickness and weight of the threads in a fabric.
The rainfly, floor, and walls are made of durable 63D polyester, while the mesh is made of 40D polyester.
Overall, it stands up incredibly well to cold weather but might be a little uncomfortable on rainy days due to the slight lack of rain protection. It does, however, have a hooded rainfly to somewhat protect your main door from the wet. In addition, it stands up to strong winds and heavy rains well but doesn’t have a vestibule for you to stash muddy or wet boots or shoes in rainy weather. Even when it goes down to close to freezing, the tent stays relatively warm at night. The Tetragon NX 2 person tent performs remarkably well in cold and wet weather. Leaving the rainfly off is advisable in warmer weather, as the tent can get stuffy on still nights. While the back panel doesn’t have a window, there is a vent opening along the top for an added ventilation boost.

However, the rainfly’s hooded design helps promote some airflow, and the two generous mesh windows keep the air circulating and the bugs out. The tent stays nice and airy with the rainfly off, but like most other tents, the polyester sheet inhibits airflow when in use. Dome tents also offer superior protection from the elements. Like all dome tents, the sloping walls take some shoulder room away but give maximum headroom and stability in higher winds and bad weather. There’s also a loop for a camping lantern. You can stash your camping essentials in the gear loft or the two storage pockets, while the two side windows give you plenty of airflow. There isn’t a vestibule, which is a bit of a downer, but there IS a hooded rain fly to keep the showers away from your main door. Like other 2-person tents, the peak height of 4 feet (1.2 meters) isn’t enough to stand upright but you’ll be able to comfortably move around in a crouch. Unlike other tent manufacturers, when Tetragon says two people, it really means two people, not one-and-a-dog.
